But if you happen to score very low in JAMB, maybe just the minimum cut of mark of 180,or even 170 or 150 then you don’t really need to wail like those who got comfortable score than you.

How To Gain Admission With A Low JAMB Score Into A University

Case study 1: Those that scored Less than 250 and applied for high competitive course

Those that chose high competitive course like pharmacy, medicine and surgery, law, etc.

Have it in mind that this courses are hotcakes and are highly sort after, almost every one wants to become a doctor, lawyer etc and the school can only admit candidates based on their capacity and based on what jamb allocated to them.

If you score anything below 250 and your institution is very competitive then you have to put up a good fight during post UTME screening exercise before you can scale through.

Advice: if you can choose another course that has low competition in ALL round this will boost your chances of securing admission this year. Another option is to choose another institution but with the same course. Probably you chose UNILAG which is a federal institution and want to study law but you got 200 in JAMB it will be wise you choose state universities around Lagos state.

Case study 2: Those that scored more than 180 but less than 200.

Having any score less than 200 with a high competitive course like optometry, Nursing, law, etc mostly when your preferred choice got to do with well known institution that have higher numbers of candidate, seeking for admission won’t be a walk over.

It’s advisable not to put your self in a tight corner rather go through the institution departmental cut off mark, weigh your options if the odds is against you try get a change of course form and institution.

Case 3: Those that scored less than 180 but more than 170.

There are still institution that accept 170, I mean universities that accept 170 but most of this institution are located in the Northern part of the country. If you can afford to travel and also school in the North then you can get a change of course and institution form.

For those who are in the North lucky you, most state universities don’t actually put up stringent requirements.
