What is JAMB CAPS Portal Really about?

Before going into details about JAMB CAPS 2024 Update, please note. JAMB CAPS is an abbreviation representing the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board Central Admission Processing System.

The platform was created by JAMB to automate the admissions process into tertiary institutions in Nigeria. It also ensures quality control, transparency, and credibility of the admission process.

The Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) is expected to make provision for a ‘marketplace’ in the JAMB portal where institutions can go and ‘request for students in Nigeria who score their cut-off points.

The system is such that institutions can only admit those who meet their cut-off points. If a candidate fails to meet the cut-off mark, that student would certainly be denied admission irrespective of the candidate’s connection.

NOTE:

JAMB CAPS does not only automates the process but a number of other innovations are also being introduced. And these include:

• Opportunities for candidates to confirm provisional admissions thus eliminating cases of candidates abandoning admissions;
• Market place to enable institutions to source candidates from the available pool based on various criteria such as JAMB score, State, Local Government and even gender of the candidates
• The requirement for all awaiting O/L results candidates to upload their results into the JAMB portal before being considered for admission
• Admissions can be processed in batches as well as instantaneously with candidates being able to check their admission status at any point in time on the JAMB portal.

Below are the procedures provided for accessing the JAMB CAPS Portal and checking admission status.

JAMB CAPS 2024 Login Portal and How to Check Admission Status

• Visit https://portal.jamb.gov.ng/efacility/ preferably using a PC or chrome browser on mobile.

• Enter your login details (login email and password) you created your jamb account with. Meanwhile, see how you can access the JAMB CBT portal.
• If you don’t have an account yet, please click on Create an account, or if you have forgotten your login details; click on Reset Password.
• After you have entered your correct login email and password, click on Login.

• Once you have successfully logged in, you will see a page that looks like the one shown in the image above indicates that your login was successful.

How to Check Admission Status

• Go to the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) E-facility portal at portal.jamb.gov.ng/efacility.
• Log in to your Jamb profile with your username and password.
• After successfully logging in, scroll down, then locate and click the ‘Check Admission Status‘ tab.
• Select your Exam year and Enter your registration number in the required columns.
• Finally, click on ‘Check Admission Status‘ to access your admission status.

Successfully admitted candidates are advised to ensure that they indicate the acceptance or rejection of admission online and timely to enable the processing of their admission.

How to Accept/Reject Course Transfer on CAPS Portal

NOTE: Once you accept the admission, your admission quest is over as you will no longer be available for other schools’ admission consideration.

On the other hand, if you reject admission, you become available to other schools with free admission slots for admission consideration.

• Go to the JAMB E-facility portal at https://portal.jamb.gov.ng/efacility/
• Supply your Email Address and Password in the required columns and then log in.
• Then locate and click on ‘Check Admission Status

• Select your examination year, supply your JAMB registration number in the required column and then click on the ‘Access my CAPS‘ button.

• Click ‘Transfer Approval.

• Finally, click the ‘Accept‘ or ‘Reject‘ button to accept/reject the course transfer.

How to Accept or Reject Admission Offer on JAMB CAPS Platform

1. Go to the JAMB E-facility portal at https://portal.jamb.gov.ng/efacility/.
2. Supply your Email Address and Password in the required columns and then log in.
3. Then locate and click on ‘Check Admission Status.
4. Select your examination year, supply your JAMB registration number in the required column and then click on the ‘Access my CAPS‘ button.
5. Select ‘Admission Status‘ on the left panel.
6. Locate and click on the ‘Search button in front of your JAMB Registration Number to load your profile.
7. You can now accept/reject your admission offer under ‘Admission Profile’.

N/B: If you have been offered admission the Accept Admission and Reject Admission buttons will be active (clickable) as highlighted in Red below.

If you have NOT been offered admission yet, the Accepted Admission and Reject Admission buttons will be inactive (not clickable and greyed out) as highlighted in RED color below.

Admission Status details (highlighted in blue) may differ. If not yet offered admission, please keep checking.

A Quick Update

After following the steps outlined above in other to check if you have been offered admission on the JAMB CAPS portal, there are series of messages you are bound to see after you have input your JAMB Registration Number.

Below are the messages you will likely receive when you check your admission status using the JAMB caps and what you need to do concerning that.

1. ADMITTED: If you check your admission status and what you see is admitted, then congratulations as you have been offered admission and you can now proceed to accept the admission and follow the next instruction after accepting your admission.

2. RECOMMENDED: If after checking your admission status and you see Recommended, it means you may have been offered admission in another school other than the one you chose or an opportunity was opened for you in another school.

3. NOT ADMITTED: The Third set of messages you may likely see when trying to check if you have been offered admission is Not Admitted.

In this case, you have been considered for admission just yet or you will not be offered admission at all. If you see this message, you are not allowed to accept admission.

4. ADMISSION IN PROGRESS, CHECK BACK LATER: If you see the above message bearing admission in progress, check back later, then it has a straightforward explanation which means that your school is yet to release the admission list or that they are still releasing the admission list.
